Terms and conditions
Last updated: 2026-09-18
These are the terms for using this website and your LGM-OS licence. They are written to be read: if something is unclear, ask before paying.
What you are buying
A licence to use LGM-OS, one single payment, no subscriptions, updates included. What you buy is the right to use the program, not the program itself nor its source code.
- One licence, one machine. The key stays reserved for the first NAS that activates it. If you change machine, or a disk dies, you release it yourself from My account and activate it on the new one: no need to ask anybody.
- The key is your credential: whoever holds it can activate a machine with it. Keep it as you would keep a password.
- LGM-OS can be tried for 60 days without a licence, with everything working, before you decide.
Your account
- You need an email address that is yours and a password of at least eight characters.
- Keep that password safe. This website has no «forgot my password» page yet: if you lose it, the account has to be recovered by hand.
- You can switch on two-step verification and add passkeys. Recovery codes are shown only once: write them down.
- Whatever happens from your account counts as done by you, so do not share it.
Payment
- Payment is taken by Polar (polar.sh), the merchant of record for the licence. That means Polar issues the invoice, and works out, charges and declares the VAT of your country.
- The screen where the card is typed is theirs: no card is ever seen or stored here.
- The price that counts is the one that payment screen shows at the moment of buying.
- The licence is issued once the payment is confirmed, and turns up in your account on its own. If it takes a while, payments are reviewed automatically every few minutes; and if it still does not appear, write to us before paying again.
Refunds
When the shop refunds a purchase, its licence is revoked: the portal does it by itself on receiving word of the refund, and that machine no longer holds a valid licence.
What you may and may not do
- You may install LGM-OS on your machine, use it for whatever you like and do whatever you want with your data: it is yours and it is in your home.
- You may not resell, rent or hand out the licence key, nor use it on more machines than you bought.
- You may not try to get around the licence check, nor attack this service.
- A licence obtained through a fraudulent or reversed payment is revoked.
What is guaranteed, and what is not
- LGM-OS is delivered as it is. It is looked after, fixed and updated, but no program never fails, and promising otherwise would be a lie.
- Your data is yours and it is on your machine. Make backups —LGM-OS does them for you— and check now and then that they restore.
- This website may be down for a while. Your NAS keeps working: the licence is checked inside the machine, so it does not depend on this server answering.
- Hardware is on you: LGM-OS runs on very different machines, and there is no way to guarantee that yours, with its disks and its cards, will behave. That is why you can try it before paying.
- Nothing said here cuts back the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Third-party software
If you ask it to, LGM-OS installs third-party applications (containers from the catalogue) and downloads their images from their own repositories. Each one has its own licence and terms, which are not ours.
If something changes
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Licences already bought are governed by the terms in force on the day they were bought.
Contact
For anything about your purchase or your licence, ask on the community, which is the contact channel there is.
