A file server for your business, with no subscription

An office almost always needs the same things: one place for shared documents, everyone seeing only what's theirs, backups that actually work, and nothing lost when a computer dies or someone opens the wrong email. LGM-OS turns a server —new or second-hand— into exactly that, and you manage all of it from the browser.

Shared folders, with everyone in their place

• Folders per department that open as a network drive on Windows and Mac, and also over NFS and WebDAV.
• Permissions per user and per group, folder by folder: accounting doesn't see management's files, and new staff get their group's permissions.
• A personal drive for each person, on top of the shared folders.
• Quotas, so one folder can't eat everyone's disk.
• Recycle bin and previous versions: a deleted or overwritten document comes back without calling anyone.
• Search inside documents, not just by file name.

It fits what you already have

• Active Directory or LDAP: the server joins your existing domain and everyone signs in with their usual account.
• An in-browser document editor to open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files without installing anything.
• Calendar and contacts for each person, synced with their phone.
• A shared printer and a scanner with text recognition.
• iSCSI disks for other servers, and virtual machines for that one program that only runs on Windows.

Backups you can actually check

A backup nobody has ever tried to restore is a hope, not a backup. That's why:

• Backups run on a schedule to another disk, another server or the cloud, with versions.
• The server runs restore drills: it really restores part of the backup and checks that the files are identical.
• It can replicate to a second server, ready to take over if the first one fails.
• It takes snapshots of the disk at the times you choose.

Security without an IT person on staff

• A ransomware trap: bait files that, if something starts encrypting them, raise the alarm and pause the backups so the good copies aren't overwritten.
• Two-step verification and passkeys with fingerprint or face to sign in to the panel.
• Firewall, country blocking and antivirus, all from the same panel.
• A log of who did what, plus alerts to your phone or email when something is wrong.
• Clean shutdown with a UPS: if the power goes, the server shuts itself down before the battery runs out.

What it costs

The licence is a one-time payment per server, with updates included: no monthly fees and no per-user fees. It runs on the hardware you choose, with no need to buy a brand's box.

The usual questions

Can it join an Active Directory domain?

Yes. The server joins an existing Active Directory or LDAP, and folders are shared with the same users and groups you already have.

What happens if the server breaks?

With mirrored disks, a failed disk stops nobody: you swap it without shutting down. If the whole machine dies, the backups and the replica on a second server let you recover everything, settings included.

Can people work from outside the office?

Yes, with the server's own VPN or with the LGM Connect app, and with two-step verification to sign in.

Do I get an invoice?

Yes. Payment goes through Polar, which issues the invoice with your country's taxes included in the price.
