Terms and conditions
Last updated: 2026-10-27
These are the terms for using this website and the LGM-OS licence agreement. They are written to be read: if something is unclear, ask before paying.
Who sells and who licenses
The seller is Polar Software, Inc. (3500 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901, USA; polar.sh), as authorised reseller: it takes the payment, issues the invoice and handles refunds. The licence to use LGM-OS, its support and its guarantee come from the owner of LGM-OS:
- Owner: Luis García Menéndez
- Tax ID: 71726924K
- Address: Calle Colegio San Ignacio
- Contact: info@lgm-os.com
- Phone: +34684116588
What you are buying
A licence to use LGM-OS. What you buy is the right to use the program, not the program itself nor its source code. Every licence includes the whole system; what changes from one plan to another is updates, business features and support:
- Home: one-off payment, with one year of updates counted from the purchase. You can add years one at a time whenever you like; if you add one after they ran out, the new year counts from that day.
- Lifetime: one-off payment, with updates with no end date. Anyone with a Home licence can upgrade it to Lifetime with a 15% discount on its price.
- Business: turns on the features meant for companies. Monthly or yearly, by subscription, with updates included while it lasts; or lifetime, one-off payment, with updates with no end date. The yearly plan gives one month of support for each paid year and the lifetime plan, three months on purchase.
- Support: a separate, optional monthly subscription that can be added to any licence from My account. It renews every month until you cancel it, with the same 14-day margin if a payment fails.
The price of each plan is the one shown on this site under Buy, taxes included.
- One licence, one machine. The key stays reserved for the first NAS that activates it. If you change machine, or a disk dies, you release it yourself from My account and activate it on the new one: no need to ask anybody.
- The key is your credential: whoever holds it can activate a machine with it. Keep it as you would keep a password.
- When updates run out, your NAS keeps working in full, with all its features and your data: it just stops installing versions released after that date. Versions released before it can be installed whenever you like.
- Updates with no end date means for as long as LGM-OS keeps being published. If the project stops, its code is published and the product stops asking for a licence: see If LGM-OS disappears.
- Licences bought before 26 October 2026 are Lifetime and stay that way.
- LGM-OS can be tried for 60 days before you decide, with everything working except the LGM Tunnel address, which comes with the licence. The trial starts when you link your account on this site from the NAS panel —a free account, no card—, it is one per machine and one per account, and a freshly installed machine has a few days' grace to link it.
- When the trial ends without a licence, the NAS goes into "data only": you can browse and download all your files from the panel and read your shared folders, and everything else —apps, cameras, scheduled backups— is paused. Nothing is deleted and your data is never held back: activating a licence puts everything back as you left it.
Business subscriptions
- They renew automatically at the end of each period —month or year— for the same amount, until you cancel from the link in Polar's receipt or by writing to us. Cancelling costs nothing: the licence stays Business until the end of the paid period.
- If a payment fails, Polar retries it, and for 14 days after the end of the period the licence stays Business.
- If the subscription ends, the NAS does not shut down or lose anything: it carries on as a Home licence, with the updates released up to the end of the paid period. Business features are switched off; whatever you did with them is not deleted.
- You can switch from monthly to yearly at any time from My account: the unused part of the current month is deducted.
- Support, whether subscribed or free, is given by email and through this site's chat while it lasts.
What it needs and how it works
- Requirements: a 64-bit Intel or AMD (x86-64) machine with at least 4 GB of memory and a 32 GB system disk. It does not run on ARM (Raspberry Pi and the like). Not every combination of disks and cards has been tested: that is why it can be tried before paying.
- Licence protection: it is activated once, online, and tied to that machine's fingerprint. After that it is checked inside the machine itself, which keeps working even if this website is down; every twelve hours the machine asks whether it is still active.
- If you ask it to, LGM-OS installs third-party applications; see «Third-party software», below.
Your account
- You need an email address that is yours, a password of at least eight characters and to accept these terms. To buy, you must be an adult or have your parents' or guardians' permission.
- If you forget your password, use «Forgotten your password?» on the sign-in page: a link is sent to your account's email.
- You can switch on two-step verification and add passkeys. Recovery codes are shown only once: write them down.
- Whatever happens from your account counts as done by you, so do not share it.
- You can delete your account whenever you like from My account. Your licences keep working on the machines that hold them, but you will no longer be able to move them from here.
How buying works
- You create your account (or sign in) and, on «Buy», choose the plan and tick the two boxes: immediate delivery of the licence, and these terms. Adding a year or upgrading to Lifetime works the same way, from your licence's card in My account.
- You go to Polar's payment screen, which shows the final price with taxes and lets you review and correct your details. There is no purchase until you press its pay button.
- Once the payment is confirmed, the licence appears in your account and reaches you by email with the purchase confirmation. Polar also sends you its receipt.
The contract is concluded in Spanish, English or German, the language you browse in. We keep every version of these terms with its date and will send you the one for your purchase if you ask.
Payment
- Payment is taken by Polar, the merchant of record for the licence. That means Polar issues the invoice, and works out, charges and declares the VAT of your country.
- The screen where the card is typed is theirs: no card is ever seen or stored here.
- The price is the one this website advertises, taxes included, and it is the same one the payment screen shows.
- The licence is issued once the payment is confirmed, and turns up in your account on its own. If it takes a while, payments are reviewed automatically every few minutes; and if it still does not appear, write to us before paying again.
Withdrawal and refunds
If you buy as a consumer, the law gives you 14 days from the purchase to withdraw without giving any reason. For a licence, which is delivered at once, that right is lost on receiving it if you asked for that before paying: on «Buy» there is a box to request immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once you receive the licence (article 103(m) of the Spanish consolidated General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users). The licence email confirms it in writing.
If you paid without ticking that box —for instance, through a direct payment link— you keep the 14 days. To withdraw, tell us before they run out: write to info@lgm-os.com from your account's address, or use the model form below (optional). We refund everything you paid, by the same means of payment and at no cost to you, within 14 days of receiving your notice. Polar, who took the payment, issues the refund.
When the shop refunds a purchase, its licence is revoked: the portal does it by itself on receiving word of the refund, and that machine no longer holds a valid licence. If what is refunded is an added year or the upgrade to Lifetime, only that change is undone and the licence goes back to how it was.
Model withdrawal form
(Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)
— To Luis García Menéndez, Calle Colegio San Ignacio, info@lgm-os.com:

of the following digital content: LGM-OS licence no. …
— Ordered on/received on (*) …
— Name of consumer(s) …
— Address of consumer(s) …
— Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper)

(*) Delete as appropriate.
Gift codes
A gift code is used when creating the account and gives a Home licence just like a bought one, to an account that does not have any yet, while the code is valid and has uses left. It cannot be exchanged for money. If you got it in a giveaway, the rules are those of whoever runs it.
What you may and may not do
- You may install LGM-OS on your machine, use it for whatever you like and do whatever you want with your data: it is yours and it is in your home.
- Each licence is good for one machine at a time. You may not rent out or hand around the key, nor use it on more machines than you bought. You may give it or pass it on to someone else: release it from your machine and write to us to move it to their account.
- You may not try to get around the licence check, nor attack this service.
- A licence obtained through a fraudulent or reversed payment is revoked.
Who owns LGM-OS
LGM-OS —the system, its panel, its installer, LGM Connect and its documentation— is the work of its owner, Luis García Menéndez, and is protected by copyright law. The licence lets you use it; it does not sell it to you nor give you its code. Without the owner's written permission you may not:
- copy, modify, adapt or translate it, except as needed to use it;
- decompile it, disassemble it or try to obtain its source code, except to the extent the law expressly allows;
- distribute, sell or rent it or make it available to others, including as a service;
- remove or alter its authorship and licence notices;
- use it, in whole or in part, to make a product that competes with it.
The full licence ships with the software (the LICENSE file). The third-party
software it includes keeps its own licences, and nothing here limits what those licences or
the law allow you.
LGM Tunnel
LGM Tunnel gives your NAS an address under lgm-os.com and a tunnel to reach it. What you publish through it is your business: it may not be used for illegal content or activities. If an authority orders us to, or we receive a substantiated notice of something illegal, we may cut that address, and we will tell you why. Point of contact for authorities and users (Digital Services Act): info@lgm-os.com, in Spanish or English.
Legal guarantee
- If you buy as a consumer, you have the legal guarantee of conformity: LGM-OS must work as described on this website and in its documentation, and get the updates —security ones included— needed to keep doing so. We are liable for any lack of conformity that exists when the licence is delivered and becomes apparent within two years (articles 114 onwards of the Spanish consolidated General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users).
- If something does not work as it should, write to us: we will fix it free of charge within a reasonable time. If that is not possible, not done in time or the fault is serious, you can ask for a price reduction or your money back.
- Your data is yours and it is on your machine. No program is free of faults: make backups —LGM-OS does them for you— and check now and then that they restore.
- Nothing said here cuts back the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Third-party software
If you ask it to, LGM-OS installs third-party applications (containers from the catalogue) and downloads their images from their own repositories. Each one has its own licence and terms, which are not ours. The installation image includes free software from Debian under licences such as the GPL: we will give you its complete source code if you ask (see Download).
If something changes
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Licences already bought are governed by the terms in force on the day they were bought. If a change affects you as an account holder, we will email you at least 30 days in advance, and if you do not agree you can delete your account before it applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Oviedo. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the law of your country and the right to go to the courts where you live.
Complaints
We are not bound by any alternative dispute resolution body. If a claim is not settled with us, you can file it with the consumer authority of your region or go to the courts where you live.
